EVALUATION OF LABEL INFORMATIONS AND PHYSICAL-CHEMICAL CHARACTERISTICS IN CHILDREN SHAMPOOS
Abstract
Baby shampoos formulations present milder surfactants, which reduce the eye irritation. The objective of this article was to verify the quality of baby shampoos, the compliance with Brazilian regulatory rules to the labeling and the pH, viscosity and foam index of 8 different products marketed in the region of Santo Amaro, São Paulo, Brasil. All samples were analyzed in accordance with current legislation concerning compliance to labeling requirements described in RDC 211/05 from Anvisa. All samples showed pH compatible with tear fluid and appropriated foam volume. From 8 analyzed products, 75% showed apparent viscosity suitable for baby shampoos and 25% presented inadequate viscosity. These results show that the most of manufacturers are concerned with sale safe and effective products.
