IN VITRO EVALUATION OF LACTUCA SPP. AND SACCHAROMYCES CEREVISIAE IN THE PRESENCE OF DRUGS
Abstract
The presence of emerging contaminants in surface waters was detected in studies conducted by researchers from several countries. In this study, physiological parameters of antibacterial contaminated substrates, nitrofurantoin (NTF), tetracycline hydrochloride (CTC), cephalexin (CEF), amoxicillin (AMX), azithromycin (AZI) and norfloxacin (NOR) were monitored and by analgesics, diclofenac sodium (DFS), dipyrone monohydrate (DMH) and diclofenac potassium (DFP) in cultures of Lactuca spp. (lettuce) and Saccharomyces cereviseae, in vitro. All the evaluated substances caused metabolic and physiological changes in the culture of Lactuca spp. studied, changing the germination rate, leaf length, root length and rates of alpha chlorophyll and beta chlorophyll. However only NOR, DFS and DMH cause
changes in the inhibitory concentration for the foam production of S. cereviseae in concentrations ≤ 5000 ppm.
