POTENTIAL STUDY DRUG INTERACTIONS IN PATIENTS HYPERTENSIVE

Abstract

Hypertension is a chronic elevation of systolic and diastolic blood pressure and is probably the most common chronic disease today. Most hypertensive patients use several drugs, increasing the risk of drug interactions. These interactions can lead to morbidity and mortality if preventive measures are not taken. The objective was to investigate potential drug interactions in patients with hypertension and report the necessary therapeutic interventions. Was conducted a quantitative observational cross-sectional study with 60 hypertensive of System of Registration and Monitoring Hypertensive Diabetics SIS-HIPERDIA, linked to a Basic Health Unit (UBS). The study population was predominantly female, mulatto color, with low education and low family income. It was found 70 potential drug interactions at varying levels, highlighting the moderate interactions (84.28%). The medications more involved in potential drug interactions were ASA + Losartan and Hydrochlorothiazide + Captopril, which could cause reduction of antihypertensive efficacy by reduction of renal prostaglandins. It was concluded that it is appropriate to adopt collaborative strategies among physicians, pharmacists, nurses, nutritionists and fitness trainers in order to develop awareness actions of the need for changes in lifestyle and therapeutic adherence of hypertensive patients.
