Abstract

O interesse pela farmaco-epidemiologia somente se incrementou nas duas últimas décadas. Nesta época foram organizados os primeiros sistemas de farmacovigilância baseados na notificação voluntária das reações adversas, com o propósito de conseguir detectar precocemente novas associações entre os fármacos e seus efeitos indesejáveis, assim como evitar que se repetissem casos como a tragédia da talidomida.
