QUALITY OF LIFE IN MENOPAUSAL WOMEN COMPARED TO USE OF DRUGS

The Brazil experiencing a demographic aging process, with a significant increase in the number of women experiencing the climacteric syndrome and drug use. Thus, the objective was to compare the quality of life of menopausal women in use or not of drugs. We conducted a descriptive, cross-sectional, quantitative nature, involving 626 menopausal women seen at ESF 's Montes Claros/MG. Data were collected related to sociodemographic and clinical profile of the menopausal women. To evaluate the quality of life, Menopause Rating Scale (MRS Menopause Rating Scale) was used. To compare the quality of life with the use of medications, we used the Student t test, with 5% significance level. There was a predominance of women aged between 45-59 years (59.3%) with level of education with less than nine years of formal study (72.0 %), marital status with a steady partner (64.2%) and income family between one and two minimum wages (43.9%). With regard to physical activity, 77.8% of women answered no physical activity. The prevalence of non-smoking women (83.7%). Among the respondents, 75.2% reported being hypertensive and 70.8% of women reported using drugs in general in their day to day. Comparison of the items of quality of life with drug use revealed the presence of differences (p < 0.05) in the total score and for the somatic- vegetative symptoms, psychological and urogenital, with steeper average values in women who used drugs.
