COMPARATIVE STUDY OF THE SELF-MEDICATION USED BY STUDENTS FROM THE AREAS OF HEALTH HUMAN, EXACT AND SOCIAL SCIENCES FROM UNIVERSIDADE DO PLANALTO CATARINENSE – UNIPLAC

The objective of the work was to research and analyze questions related to the habit of self-medication among students from Medicine, Civil Engineering, Pedagogy and Law from UNIPLAC. The study verified the prevalence of the classes of pharmacies used as self-medication and, this kind of practice due to the level of stress that the course may cause, as a justification for the consume of these remedies as auxiliaries for a good performance in the studies. It was characterized as an observational, transversal and descriptive study with the participation of 121 students. The instrument to collect data was a closed questionnaire. The project was approved by the Committee of Ethics in Research with Human beings (CEP) from UNIPLAC. It was adopted the Statistic Program SPSS 13.0 to accomplish the quantitative analysis and, the calculus of the variables was accomplished by making use of the descriptive statistics, by means of the distribution of frequencies and the test of the qui-quadrate to verify the differences in the proportions, with a level of significance p<0,05 .Most of the participants was females, presenting an age media of 28 years old, familiar income above 4 minimum salaries. 71% of these students consider their course stressing, being Medicine the most stressing and Law the least one. With respect to the self-medication, from the four courses analyzed, Law and Civil Engineering showed the same perceptual of 39%, Medicine 40% and Pedagogy 63,6%. The class of vitamins were the class of medicine more used, followed by the tranquillizers ant-depressives.
