CORANTES: FUNDAMENTOS E APLICAÇÕES FARMACOTÉCNICAS.
Abstract
A cor é uma sensação provocada pela luz, no olho humano, que depende fundamentalmente do comprimento de onda das radiações incidentes. O colorido contrapõe-se ao branco, que é a síntese das radiações, e ao preto, que é ausência das mesmas.
A farmacopéia Brasileira 4.ed. define corante para uso em medicamentos como qualquer composto orgânico ou inorgânico, natural, sintético ou idêntico ao natural produzido por síntese que, independente de possuir ou não atividade farmacológica, é adicionado às formas farmacêuticas com a finalidade única de corá-las ou alterar sua cor origina. De modo geral, são substâncias que, ao se dissolverem ou se dispensarem num determinado meio, são capazes de transmitir cor, sem modificar as demais características desse meio.
