INTOXICAÇÃO POR PLANTAS NO ESTADO DO ESPÍRITO SANTO

Abstract

A intoxicação é uma manifestação clínica dos efeitos nocivos resultantes da interação entre uma substância química e um sistema biológico. Todas as plantas são potencialmente tóxicas, pois produzem substâncias que podem agir como um toxicante, dependendo da dose, via de entrada e tempo de exposição. Planta tóxica é todo vegetal que, quando introduzido no organismo do homem ou de animais, seja capaz de ocasionar danos que prejudiquem a saúde e bem estar desses seres. O princípio tóxico de uma planta é umconjunto de substâncias quimicamente bem definidas, de mesma natureza ou de natureza diferente, capazes de causar intoxicação, sendo que essa intoxicação depende da quantidade da substância tóxica absorvida, da natureza dessa substância e da via de introdução (OLIVEIRA & AKISUE,2003).
