Abstract

The demand for customized medications and cosmetics is on a growth trend. In this scenario, pharmacies specializing in the compounding of veterinary medications have stood out, presenting themselves as a comparative alternative to veterinary pharmaceutical industries. Thus, the objective of this article was to demonstrate the landscape of compounding pharmacies for veterinary medications in the face of the growing pet market. This is an exploratory and quantitative-based research; an extensive search was conducted in online national databases provided by regulatory institutions in the veterinary and pharmaceutical sectors, ensuring that the analyzed data faithfully represented the reality of the compounding veterinary  pharmacy market in Brazil. According to the results, there has been a significant increase in the registration of new
establishments since 2014, maintaining a consistently upward projection curve (R²= 0.99). It was observed that there is a strong correlation between the quantity of  compounding veterinary pharmacies, veterinary professionals, and the number of pets in Brazilian  households. The detailed analysis of the impact of compounding veterinary medications in compounding  pharmacies on the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) revealed an essential interconnection between economic activity and the sector under study. In conclusion, the correlation  between economic factors (such as GDP) and the presence  of compounding veterinary pharmacies underscores the need for a strategic and adaptable approach to the growth of this sector.
