Phamacotherapeutic profile of diabetic patients assisted by the Family Health Program of Muriaé – MG

The aim of this work was to evaluate the pharmacotherapeutic profile of diabetic patients assisted by the Family Health Program in the city of Muriaé - MG. The work was carried out by quantitative cross-sectional study accomplished in the period of February to June of 2009 in the Family Health Program unit at São Gotardo, Muriaé. The sample was constituted by 50 patients presenting Diabetes mellitus. They were randomly chosen through the medical handbooks. Each subject information was obtained by interview, through a structured questionnaire, during visit to the patient's home, accompanied by an Health Agent. Of the appraised individuals, 64% are women and 36% are men, all presenting diabetes type 2. The predominant age group was among 50 to 69 years. Anti-diabetic drugs were used by 96% of the patients and most of them affirmed to use one or more drugs besides the drugs anti-diabetic. Adverse reactions and drug interactions were reported by, respectively, 18% and 38% of the subjects. Therefore, it is necessary the inclusion of the pharmacist to the multidisciplinary team that attends those diabetic patients, in order to insure the Pharmaceutical Care procedures.Downloads
