Indiscriminate use of antibiotics generally provided the development of several multiresistant bacteria, which are responsible for systemic infections of great clinical importance. This study described in a narrative way the antibiotic resistance to β-lactams and their administration combined with others drugs aiming at the bacterial resensitization of multidrug-resistant strains. It is a qualitative study of narrative review, consisting of an analysis of the literature with a search of data published in the database ScienceDirect on use of β-lactam inhibitors for treating infections caused by multiresistant bacteria. We showed that there are possibilities of treatment of bacterial infections caused by multiresistant strains by antibiotic therapy of β-lactam inhibitors. Multidrug-resistant bacterial infections remain a major challenge for medicine, as enzymes confer bacterial resistance to all antibiotics. Even though there are currently available inhibitors of β-lactamases and microbial activity, it is necessary that the effort to find new antibiotics is continuous for the control of multiresistant bacteria.
